RE-ROOFS
Install additional layer of roofing over the top of the existing.
COMPLETE TEAR OFFS
Tear off the existing roofing down to the wood deck and install new roof system completed with underlayment and Ice and Water Shield as needed.
REPAIRS
Leak repairs usually require removal over the leak area down to the plywood in order to find the source. We don't do band-aid patches but actually find where the leak has started. Then we re-install that area with new underlayment and flashings or metal if necessary and reinstall the roof material.
Roofing is responsible for several important functions. Most importantly, it serves as the structural support of your home. In addition, the roof controls water ingress, air flow, water vapor diffusion, heat flow, and offers surface protection. However, in order for a roof to function properly, the right roof materials and components in the assembly must be selected based on the properties that make them suitable for these various tasks.
The price of a new roof system varies widely, depending on such things as the materials selected, contractor doing the work, location, local labor rates and time of year. It is important to keep in mind that for each roofing material, there are different grades and corresponding prices. There also are a variety of roof styles and shapes to choose from. You need to look at the full product range and make a choice based on your budget and needs.
Roofing Shapes
Ridged roofsA gable is the generally triangular portion of a wall between the edges of a sloping roof. The shape of the gable and how it is detailed depends on the structural system being used (which is often related to climate and availability of materials) and aesthetic concerns. Thus the type of roof enclosing the volume dictates the shape of the gable.
A hip roof, or hipped roof, is a type of roof where all sides slope downwards to the walls, usually with a fairly gentle slope. Thus it is a house with no gable or other vertical sides to the roof. A square hip roof is shaped like a pyramid. Hip roofs on rectangular houses will have two triangular sides and two trapezoidal ones. A hip roof on a rectangular plan has four faces. They are almost always at the same pitch or slope, which makes them symmetrical about the centerlines. Hip roofs have a consistent level fascia, meaning that a gutter can be fitted all around. Hip roofs often have dormers
A Mansard or Mansard roof in architecture refers to a style of hip roof characterized by two slopes on each of its four sides with the lower slope being much steeper, almost a vertical wall, while the upper slope, usually not visible from the ground, is pitched at the minimum needed to shed water. This form makes maximum use of the interior space of the attic and is considered a practical form for adding a storey to an existing building. Often the decorative potential of the Mansard is exploited through the use of convex or concave curvature and with elaborate dormer window surrounds
As a mansard, but on only two sides of the roof
Flat roofsA flat roof is a type of covering of a building. In contrast to the sloped form of a roof, a flat roof is horizontal or nearly horizontal. Materials that cover flat roofs should allow the water to run off freely from a very slight inclination.

SHINGLE ROOFRoof shingles are a roof covering consisting of individual overlapping elements. These elements are normally flat rectangular shapes that are laid in rows without the side edges overlapping, a single layer is used to ensure a water-resistant result. Shingles are laid from the bottom edge of the roof up, with the bottom edge of each row overlapping the previous row by about one third its length. Historically, at the roof ridge there was a cap consisting of copper or lead sheeting which in modern times has been substituted by shingles with a plastic underlay.
» Asphalt shinglesMade from layers of asphalt and fiberglass materials with a granulated surface. There are several types of asphalt singles including 3-Tab, T-Lock (now discontinued), Dimensional and Laminate. There are many styles of dimensional shingles from single laminate inexpensive shingles to multi laminate heavy duty shingles made to look like wood shake or slate. Asphalt shingles come with roof warranties from 20 to 50 years or lifetime. They are tested to withstand wind up to 130 MPH depending on the type and style:
Signs Your Roof Needs to be Replaced:
Exterior Signs
Shingles are curling, broken, or missing
Excess amount of debris or loose roofing granules causing drainage to be blocked
Shingles are rotted, accumulating algae or moss
Interior Signs
Ceiling has cracked paint, discoloration, rotting, leaks, or peeling in the wallpaper.
These are all signs of an aged or improperly installed roof, which causes drainage, higher energy bills, and will also lessen the market value of your home.
Important Aspects of Roof Assembly
Roof Insulation: Insulation controls heat flow both into the building and out of the building. There are many different types of thermal insulation that are used in roofing. Keep in mind that moisture resistance is an important property to consider when selecting roof insulation because water has a much higher thermal conductivity than air. Insulation options include cellular glass, polystyrene, polyurethane, polyisocyanurate, phenolic foam (air filled/gas filled), wood fibre board, and mineral fiber.
Vapour Barriers: The vapour barrier is responsible for limiting diffusion of moisture from inside the building into the roof assembly. Generally the vapor barrier is located on the warm side of the thermal insulation so that its temperature will not fall below the dew point temperature of the inside air. This is how condensation in the roof is controlled. There are several different materials to choose from.
Top Cover: The top covers are responsible for protecting the underlying roof components from UV radiation and physical damage. They come in several types including liquid applied coatings, factory applied mineral and metal surfaces, gravel and pavers. Keep in mind, liquid applied coatings require a certain amount of maintenance. Also, gravel and pavers are more resilient but have the disadvantage of adding to the vertical load on the structure.
